Number of pages:

ABSTRACT:
3 pages in length. Democrats finally lost their stronghold upon the South when the Republicans overcame decades of overpowered political maneuvering; based upon the premise of white supremacy, the Republican Party sought to equalize there heretofore social, political and economic domination the Democratic Party had long upheld. That the Republicans overcame this perpetual challenge and gained majority status in the 1990s clearly illustrates the manner by which the South was ready for a two-party system in order to erase the inequities associated with the previous two decades.
